KERA: Fund Raiser Letter

This is an assignment I completed in the Spring of 2011 for a Journalism class.

1 May 2011

Dear Valued KERA Listener,

As a listener of KERA, you know how vital it is for us to have successful fund raisers. They fund some of your favorite segments such as: All Things Considered, Morning Edition, Think with Kristen Boyd and all of our local Dallas-Fort Worth music.

We are now conducting a new fund raiser and our goal is to raise 50,000 dollars. Your donated money will go to help with:

  • A new emergency back-up generator. As you know Texas weather can get ugly in the spring and we have already lost power several times this year.
  • We need a new computer system to help upgrade our services we provide to you as listeners.
  • The cost of some of your favorite programs has gone up greatly in the past year. Some as much as 25 to 30 percent. If we don’t succeed in our goal we may have to drop some of your favorite programs.

As always your contribution will go to a great cause and for your contribution you will receive an advanced copy of Wayne Dryer’s book “Say No Without Guilty Feeling,” which will be a topic of dialogue on many upcoming KERA programs.

Thank you for all your help over the years and for your continued support of KERA radio.
